The Cotswold Book Room respects your right to privacy.

We do need collect personal data at times, and this policy explains how we keep your data safe, how we store it and how you can exercise your privacy rights.

If you have any questions about the use of any of your personal information then please contact Cathy and/or Gideon York through any of our usual channels.

The times we collect your personal information:

  • When you order a book with us either in store, through our website or by any other communication channel.
  • When you join our mailing list.
  • When you contact us through any means with an enquiry.
  • When you book onto any of our events.

When you order anything from us, or book into an event, then minimum we need from you is your name. We also find it useful to have a contact telephone number and we may ask you for an e mail address, and if you want books posted or delivered then we will need your postal address. These are collected to help process your order, contact you with updates about your order, speed up your book ordering process if you’ve ordered with us before and, with your permission, add you to our mailing list.

Data is stored on our password protected database, this protects your data from unauthorised use.

  • Any printed data is shredded as soon as it is no longer necessary.

If you feel that your personal information has not been handled correctly, or you are unhappy with our response to any requests you have made to us regarding the use of your personal information, you have the right to raise a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time in response to changing legal, technical or business developments.
