Author Event - Gothic Novels and Modern Fear
23 September 2026, 19.00 – 20.30
Join us in the bookshop for an evening of gothic crime stories.
Jody Cooksley’s Victorian Gothic crime, The Small Museum, won The Caledonia Novel Award and was shortlisted for the HWA Gold Crown in 2025, with its sequel, The Surgeon’s House, published earlier this year.
Jody will be talking about the inspiration behind her novels which move between Victorian London’s underworld and high society. These clever mysteries chart the rise and fall of the ruthless Everley family and their monstrous crimes, a legacy of the past that bleeds into the present.
The event is free to attend but booking is essential. There is the option to pre-order one or both of her books as part of the booking, and Jody will be signing and dedicating copies on the night.
A free glass of fizz or soft drink will be available for everyone on the night.
